SC declines interim order in Resham Chaudhary's petition

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 9 The Supreme Court (SC) has denied an interim order on a writ petition filed by Resham Lal Chaudhary, patron of the Nagarik Unmukti Party Nepal. A division bench of Justices Saranga Subedi and Tek Prasad Dhungana on Sunday made the decision after conducting a hearing. Chaudhary had sought a permission to run in the upcoming March 5 election to the House of Representatives from Kailali constituency no 1. He had registered a writ petition at SC against the decision of the election officer of Kailali constituency no 1 who had invalidated his candidacy. The Supreme Court, in its order, said, 'Since the interpretation of the constitutional and legal provisions will be made during the final hearing of the writ petition, the Court finds no sufficient grounds to issue an interim order at this stage. The apex court of the country thus directed that the case be proceed to final hearing.
