MYAGDI, FEBRUARY 9 Farmers in Myagdi district produced oranges worth Rs 316 million this year, according to the Agricultural Development Office. The district harvested 4,515 metric tonnes of oranges from 430 hectares, with an average market price of Rs 70 per kilogram, said office chief Sanjeev Bastola. Despite favorable climatic conditions and no major disease outbreaks, both production and earnings declined compared to last year, when farmers earned Rs 340 million from 4,781 metric tonnes. Bastola attributed the drop to a natural production cycle. Major orange-producing areas include Rakhu, Arman, Dana, Tatopani, Narchayang, and Dowa, among others. (With inputs from RSS)
