Cabinet extends Inquiry Commission's tenure by 25 days

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 9 The government has decided to extend the tenure of the Inquiry Commission formed to investigate the physical and human losses incurred during the Gen Z Uprising on September 8–9 last year. A Cabinet meeting held on Monday extended the Commission's term by 25 days, according to government spokesperson and Minister for Home Affairs, Om Prakash Aryal. It may be recalled that the Cabinet, in its meeting on September 21, 2025, had constituted the Inquiry Commission under the chairmanship of former judge Gauri Bahadur Karki to conduct a fair investigation into the physical damage and human casualties sustained during the September 8–9 protests and to submit a comprehensive report. Likewise, the Cabinet has approved the National Economic Census Order, 2082, to facilitate data collection for the National Economic Census. Minister Aryal also informed that the Cabinet decided to present the Government of Nepal's Annual Report for the fiscal year 2081/82 to President Ramchandra Paudel.
