KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 11 The Election Commission (EC) is set to mobilize one voter education volunteer in each of the 6,743 February 15 to March 1 for the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5. The mobilization is part of a Special Voter Education Program approved under the Election Education and Voter Education Directive, 2078. The initiative aims to raise public awareness about the importance of voting rights and the voting process, the EC stated. According to the Commission, volunteers will conduct door-to-door outreach in communities and educate voters using sample ballot papers to explain election procedures and the significance of participation. The EC is also preparing to produce and disseminate various voter education materials through mass media. Interaction programs with stakeholders are being conducted to enhance the effectiveness of the campaign. Stating that effective voter education plays a key role in increasing voter turnout and reducing invalid votes, the Commission has urged provincial governments, local levels, political parties, candidates, media outlets and other stakeholders to extend cooperation and coordination.
