KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 21 The Embassy of Nepal, Ottawa, in partnership with the Nepal Tourism Board, organised a promotional event titled 'Nepal Evening' in Toronto on February 19 to showcase Nepal's tourism attractions and strengthen engagement with the Canadian travel market. The event brought together Canadian outbound tour operators, travel partners and Nepali travel and tour entrepreneurs. It coincided with the participation of the Nepal Tourism Board and Nepali private sector tourism operators in the Outdoor Adventure Show in Toronto. Addressing the programme, Nepal's Ambassador to Canada Bharat Raj Paudyal said Nepal offers visitors 'not merely a destination but a transformative experience,' highlighting the country's blend of natural beauty, adventure tourism, cultural heritage and spirituality. He noted that Nepal, home to Mount Everest and eight of the world's fourteen peaks above 8,000 metres, provides a range of adventure activities including trekking, mountaineering, rafting, paragliding, mountain biking and jungle safaris. Referring to evolving global travel trends and improvements in Nepal's tourism infrastructure, Ambassador Paudyal said the country caters to diverse interests and age groups - from adventure seekers and cultural enthusiasts to travellers pursuing wellness and luxury experiences in a Himalayan setting. He also underscored Nepal's rich cultural heritage, including its UNESCO World Heritage Sites and living traditions reflected in festivals, arts, cuisine and ethnic diversity. The Ambassador highlighted Nepal's growing international recognition as a destination for wellness, meditation and spiritual tourism, as well as its significance as the birthplace of Lord Buddha and an important pilgrimage site for Buddhists and Hindus. Informing participants about travel facilitation measures, he said air connectivity between Canada and Nepal is available through major international hubs and that Canadian citizens can benefit from visitor-friendly visa procedures, including visa-on-arrival and electronic travel authorisation options. He invited Canadian partners to collaborate with the Embassy, the Nepal Tourism Board and Nepali tour operators to further promote Nepal in the Canadian market. A representative of the Nepal Tourism Board made a detailed presentation on Nepal's tourism products and destinations during the programme. The event concluded with a networking reception aimed at fostering business partnerships and enhancing tourism ties between the two countries. On Friday morning, Ambassador Paudyal visited the Nepali pavilion at the Outdoor Adventure Show and interacted with tourism entrepreneurs. The Nepal Tourism Board and Nepali travel and tour companies are participating in the show being held from February 20 to 22 at the International Centre in Toronto.
