KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 22 The indefinite curfew imposed across parts of Gaur Municipality in Rautahat district since Saturday afternoon continued into its second day on Sunday, with authorities granting residents a brief two-hour window in the morning for essential needs before reimposing restrictions. The curfew, ordered by Chief District Officer Dinesh Sagar Bhusal following a decision by the District Security Committee, came into effect at 1:00 pm on Saturday under Section 6(a) of the Local Administration Act, 2028. It ran through the night without interruption until 6:30 am on Sunday. Residents were allowed to step out for essential work between 6:30 am and 8:30 am on Sunday morning, though all gatherings, processions and demonstrations remained strictly prohibited even during the relaxation window. The curfew resumed at 8:30 am and remains in force until further orders.
The restrictions cover the area bounded by Mudbalwa Gate to the east, Lalwakaya Dam to the west, Bam Canal to the north and Gaur Customs Office to the south. Movement of any person as well as all assemblies, processions and demonstrations are banned within this zone. Authorities have warned that violators will face legal action under the law.
