KP Sharma Oli calls for free, fair and intimidation-free elections

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 23 KP Sharma Oli, Chair of Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist), asserted that voters must be free to cast their ballots independently, reiterating that the UML remains a staunch advocate of peaceful and democratic elections. Addressing the announcement assembly of the party's National 'Volunteer Force' Koshi Province Committee in Damak today, Oli pointed to what he described as ongoing attempts to disrupt the electoral process and urged the government to ensure that the elections are conducted in a free, fair, and intimidation-free environment. Reaffirming the UML's commitment to peaceful politics and political stability, he expressed confidence that the party is well-positioned to steer the nation toward prosperity and sustainable development. Oli, who is also contesting the House of Representatives election from Jhapa Constituency-5, stated, 'No one should envisage the nation's progress without the UML; it is the UML that will lead the country forward.' Emphasizing that the party established the Volunteer Force to strengthen the government's overall security framework, he clarified that the initiative was intended not solely for the electoral period but also to contribute to the country's long-term security and stability.
