NEPSE gains 21 points; Daily turnover at Rs 4.23 billion

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 24 The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) surged on Tuesday, closing at 2,638.60 points, up 21.62 points or 0.82% from the previous trading day. The sensitive index, which tracks Class 'A' stocks, rose 0.51%, while the float index, measuring actively traded shares, gained 0.78%. All sectors closed in positive territory, with the Hotels and Tourism sector leading the gains at 2.07%. The Manufacturing and Processing sector followed with a 1.76% increase, the Trading sector rose 1.49%, and the Development sector advanced 1.11%. Other sectoral gains were modest, staying below 1%. Market turnover was recorded at Rs 4.23 billion, generated through the exchange of 9,364,938 units of shares across 328 companies in 49,093 transactions. By the end of the session, total market capitalization stood at Rs 4.438 trillion. In terms of individual stock movements, 213 scripts advanced, 42 declined, and six remained unchanged. Salapa Bikas Bank Limited (SABBL) was the only company to hit the upper circuit breaker, posting a 10% gain in its share value.
