Western disturbance brings cloud cover, light rain, snowfall likely in hills and Himalayas

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 25 The Meteorological Forecasting Division has said mist is likely in some parts of the Terai region on Wednesday morning, while light rain and snowfall are expected in several hilly and Himalayan areas under the partial influence of a western disturbance. According to the 24-hour forecast issued at 8:00 am, the hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces will remain generally cloudy. The Himalayan regions of the remaining provinces are also expected to see similar conditions. Other hilly areas will be partly cloudy, while most parts of the Terai will remain mainly fair. There is a possibility of light rain or snowfall at a few places in the Himalayan region and at one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Similar light precipitation is also likely at isolated locations in the hilly and Himalayan regions of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. Tonight, haze is likely at a few places in the Terai. The Himalayan region will remain generally cloudy, the hilly region partly cloudy and the Terai mainly fair. Light rain or snowfall may occur at one or two places in the high hilly and Himalayan areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. In the Kathmandu Valley, the weather is expected to remain partly cloudy with light rain during the day. The maximum temperature is likely to range between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius with a 10 percent chance of rainfall. At night, skies will remain partly cloudy with minimum temperatures between 9 and 11 degrees Celsius.
