15 killed in road accidents nationwide; One dies in Kathmandu tipper crash

KATHMANDU, MARCH 3 At least 15 people were killed in separate road accidents reported across various parts of the country on Monday, according to the Central Police News Room. The fatalities occurred in Sarlahi, Sunsari, Bara, Makawanpur, Bhaktapur, Chitwan, Dhading, Kaski, Banke, Rukum East, Rupandehi and Kanchanpur, highlighting ongoing concerns over road safety. Meanwhile, a 48-year-old man died in a road accident in Kathmandu on Tuesday morning. Badri Koirala, originally from Inaruwa, Sunsari, and currently residing in Bhaktapur, succumbed to injuries after a garbage-carrying tipper (Ba 2 Ka 3229) struck his scooter near the Civil Service Hospital in Minbhawan, Kathmandu Metropolitan City–31. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, spokesperson for Kathmandu Police, Koirala was critically injured in the collision and died while undergoing treatment at Civil Hospital. The tipper driver, Bikash Thapa Magar of Gorkha, has been taken into custody for investigation.
