KATHMANDU, MARCH 5 The Nepali Army has stated that the election to the House of Representatives (HoR) concluded peacefully today with the cooperation and coordination of other security agencies, the local administration and the general public. Speaking to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) after the election this evening, Nepali Army Spokesperson Rajaram Basnet said that preparations made under the Integrated Election Security Plan helped ensure the polls were conducted in a secure manner. Basnet said suspicious activities targeting the elections were neutralized in time with the support of other security agencies after authorities received alerts from the public. Personnel of the Nepali Army had been deployed for election-related duties since last month. The helicopters stationed for poll security will now be used to transport ballot boxes. According to the plan of the Election Commission (EC), ballot boxes from polling stations in remote areas will be airlifted by Nepali Army helicopters to the respective Offices of the Returning Officers.
