RSP sweeps all 15 seats of Kathmandu Valley

KATHMANDU, MARCH 8 The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has won 15 seats in the Kathmandu Valley. The RSP has swept 15 seats in three valley districts. Kathmandu has ten seats, followed by Lalitpur with three and Bhaktapur with two. RSP candidates won all of these seats. In 2022, the RSP won four out of ten seats in Kathmandu and one out of three in Lalitpur. It has now repeated its victory in those constituencies while also sweeping ten more. KATHMANDU-1 Ranju Darshana of the RSP won the Kathmandu-1 election. She garnered 15,455 votes. Her closest rival, Prabal Thapa of the Nepali Congress, received 6,364 votes. KATHMANDU-2 Sunil KC of RSP won Kathmandu-2 with 34238 votes, according to the election commission. His closest rival, Kabir Sharma of the Nepali Congress, received 8,874 votes, while Kunti Devi Pokharel of the Rastriya Prajantantra Party (RPP) took third place with 5,210 votes. KATHMANDU-3 Rajunath Pandey of the RSP defeated Kulman Ghising, president of the Ujyalo Nepal Party, in the Kathmandu-3 seat. He won by receiving 18,757 votes. Kulman came in second place with 11,171 votes. KATHMANDU-4 Pukar Bam, the RSP candidate in Kathmandu-4, has won. He won with a margin of 20,318 votes. He received 29,142 votes, while his closest competitor, Nepali Congress candidate Sachin Timalsena, received 8,824 votes. KATHMANDU-5 Sasmit Pokharel of the RSP won in Kathmandu-5 with 30,737 votes. His nearest rival, Nepali Congress candidate Pradip Poudel, received 9,159 votes. KATHMANDU-6 Shishir Khanal, the RSP candidate in Kathmandu-6, won. He won with 27,719 votes. He had previously won in the same constituency. His closest rival, the Nepali Congress' Krishna Baniya Chhetri, received 6,647 votes. Aman Kumar Maskey of CPN-UML received 4,373 votes. KATHMANDU-7 Ganesh Parajuli of the RSP won in Kathmandu-7. He triumphed with 27,805 votes. His closest rival, Nepali Congress candidate Pramod Hari Guragain, is in second place with 3,982 votes. KATHMANDU-8 RSP candidate Biraj Bhakta Shrestha won Kathmandu-8 with 24,592 votes. Suman Sayami, the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) candidate, received 3,217 votes. Nepali Congress candidate Sapana Rajbhandari received 2,835 votes, while CPN-UML candidate Rajesh Shakya and RPP candidate Navin Shahi each received 1,909 votes. KATHMANDU-9 DP Aryal, the RSP Vice President, won Kathmandu-9. He triumphed by 29,633 votes. He garnered 35,093 votes. His closest rival, Nanu Maiya Bastola of the Nepali Congress, received 5,460 votes. KATHMANDU-10 RSP candidate Pradeep Bista has won Kathmandu-10. Bista received 37,469 votes, as reported by the Election Commission. He defeated his closest competitor, Himal Karki of the Nepali Congress, by 29,369 votes. Karki received 8100 votes in total. Binod Shrestha of the CPN-UML is ranked third, with 4,864 votes. LALITPUR-1 Buddha Ratna Maharjan of the RSP won Lalitpur with 23,373 votes, while Uday Shamsher JB Rana of the Nepali Congress received 13,520. Chet Nath Sanjel, the CPN-UML candidate, finished third with 6,546 votes. LALITPUR-2 In the Lalitpur constituency-2 election, Jagadish Kharel of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) won with 39,491 votes. His opponent from Congress, Prem Krishna Maharjan, received 7,420 votes. Kharel triumphed by a 32,071 margin. LALITPUR-3 Toshima Karki, the RSP candidate for Lalitpur 3, has been elected to the House of Representatives. She garnered 43,096 votes. Her nearest rival, Jitendra Kumar Shrestha of the Nepali Congress, received 9,045 votes. Rajkaji Maharjan from the NCP received 6,022 votes. Similarly, Sandan Thapa Magar from the CPN-UML received 3,297 votes. BHAKTAPUR-1 In Bhaktapur-1, the Nepal Majdoor Kisan Party's (NMKP) legacy has been shattered for the first time. RSP candidate Rukesh Ranjit has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Bhaktapur-1 with 33,436 votes. He defeated NMKP candidate Prem Suwal by 5,289 votes. Suwal, the closest competitor, received 28,147 votes. Except for NMKP, no one has secured a seat in Bhaktapur-1 until now. Kiran Neupane of the Nepali Congress finished third with 4,282 votes, while CPN-UML's Som Misr received 3,721 votes. Since 1991, NMKP has won continuously in Bhaktapur-1. BHAKTAPUR-2 Rajiv Khatri, a former journalist and RSP candidate, has defeated CPN-UML secretary Mahesh Basnet with a wide margin. Khatri received 42,334, while Basnet garnered 10,996 votes. Kabir Rana of the Nepali Congress stood at the third position with 8,401 votes.
