KATHMANDU, MARCH 9 India national cricket team defeated New Zealand national cricket team by 96 runs to win the ICC Men's T20 World Cup final at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Batting first after losing the toss, India posted a formidable 255/5 in 20 overs. Sanju Samson led the scoring with 89 off 46 balls, hitting five fours and eight sixes. Abhishek Sharma made 52 off 21 balls, while Ishan Kishan contributed 54 off 25. Chasing a 256-run target, New Zealand were bowled out for 159 in 19 overs. Tim Seifert top-scored with 52 off 26 balls, while Mitchell Santner added 43. For India, Jasprit Bumrah starred with the ball, taking 4 wickets for 15 runs in four overs. Axar Patel claimed three wickets, while Hardik Pandya, Varun Chakravarthy and Abhishek Sharma took one wicket each. The victory marks India's second consecutive T20 World Cup title, after winning the previous edition in 2024, and their third overall, having first lifted the trophy in 2007.
