KATHMANDU, MARCH 11 The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has urged the public to purchase and use only the necessary amount of petroleum products and cooking gas. Issuing a press release on Wednesday, the NOC requested consumers not to refill extra gas cylinders or store them unnecessarily. It also urged the public to increase the use of electricity instead of cooking gas. The corporation clarified that precautionary measures should be adopted in the consumption of petroleum products and cooking gas in the current situation, as Nepal is completely dependent on imports of petroleum products. According to the NOC, action will be taken against anyone found hoarding gas cylinders unnecessarily, selling cooking gas and petroleum products at inflated prices, or engaging in the sale of new cylinders illegally. 'The consumption of petroleum products and LP gas should be reduced, particularly for industrial use. The import and sale of petroleum products are currently regular. However, we request everyone to purchase only what is necessary and avoid unnecessary storage of fuel, keeping in mind that Nepal cannot remain immune to the global impact of problems emerging in the Middle East,' the statement reads.
