Seven Indian pilgrims killed in microbus accident in Gorkha

KATHMANDU, MARCH 15 Seven Indian nationals were killed in a passenger microbus accident at Kantar in Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality-3 on Saturday, police said. According to Bharat Bahadur BK, the victims have been identified as Muthu Kumar (58), Anamalik (58), Meenakshi (59), Sivagami (53), Vijayal (57), Meena (58) and Tamilarsi (60), all from India. They died on the spot. Police said the electric microbus carrying 16 devotees was returning from Manakamana Temple when it veered off the road and plunged about 200 metres down a slope. Seven injured passengers are undergoing treatment at Chitwan Medical College. They have been identified as Soranam (62), Mangada Jalam (65), Subhadra (75), Mayal (65), Saroja (73), Bhagyalakshmi (75) and Meenakshi (34). The driver, Pushpa Malla Thakuri (46) of Besisahar Municipality-1, escaped unharmed, while his assistant Santosh Gurung (29) of Besisahar-3, was injured in the incident. Police said further investigation is underway.
