14 pigs die of swine flu in Rautahat, farmers urged to stay alert

RAUTAHAT, MARCH 15 Swine flu has been detected among domesticated pigs in Chandrapur Municipality–5 of Rautahat, leading to the death of 14 pigs, officials said. According to the municipality's livestock branch, pigs raised by local farmers, including Hira Guro, died after contracting the disease. Dr. Sulabh Chaudhary, chief of the livestock branch and a veterinary doctor at Chandrapur Municipality, confirmed that the deaths were caused by swine flu. Authorities said they have heightened vigilance to prevent the disease from spreading to other areas of the municipality. Dr. Chaudhary urged farmers to adopt special precautions and immediately inform the Animal Service Office if pigs show symptoms of illness. The livestock branch has also advised pig farmers to maintain proper hygiene, isolate sick animals, and conduct necessary health check-ups to control the spread of the disease.
