KATHMANDU, MARCH 15 Mountain Lodges of Nepal Manang has been named one of TIME magazine's World's Greatest Places of 2026, making it the only Nepali property on the prestigious annual list of 100 global destinations. 'A proud moment for Nepal,' Mountain Lodges of Nepal said, describing the TIME recognition as a landmark for the country's hospitality sector. The Nepal Tourism Board also welcomed the listing. 'We are delighted to share that Mountain Lodges of Nepal (MLN) Manang is featured in TIME's World's Greatest Places of 2026.' NTB said. TIME described the 14-room, stone-built lodge, perched above the Marsyangdi River valley at 11,312 feet along the Annapurna Circuit, as a signal that Manang is no longer the preserve of hardcore trekkers alone. Its floor-to-ceiling windows frame views of the Annapurna range, while heated beds and modern comforts mark it as the first upscale accommodation in the region. The magazine highlighted the lodge's proximity to Manang village, the 600-year-old Braga Monastery, glacial lakes and sacred meditation caves, as well as its winter appeal as one of Nepal's best locations for snow leopard sightings. Manang is now accessible by a roughly 10-hour drive from Kathmandu or a short helicopter flight from Pokhara. The lodge joins a global list that includes properties in China, India, Kenya, Bhutan, South Africa, Morocco and the United States, among others. TIME selects its annual list through nominations from its international network of correspondents and contributors, focusing on destinations offering new and culturally relevant experiences.
