KATHMANDU, MARCH 15 Global IME Bank has launched a Non-Resident and Overseas Banking Division (NROBD) aimed at providing dedicated banking services to Nepali citizens living abroad. The new department, the first of its kind in Nepal, was formally inaugurated on Thursday by Chandra Prasad Dhakal, Chairman of Global IME Bank and President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), during a special ceremony at the bank. According to the bank, the division will offer a single-window banking service for Nepali customers worldwide by combining its international presence, technology, and domestic operations. Through the NROBD, non-resident Nepalis will be able to access a range of banking services including account opening, credit processing, transaction banking, capital market services, and portfolio management. Customers residing abroad can access the services through dedicated service numbers, email, international offices, bank representatives, or the NROBD office located at the bank's corporate headquarters in Naxal, Kathmandu. The bank said it plans to expand the facility into a 24-hour support service in the future. Speaking at the inauguration, Chairman Dhakal said Nepalis living abroad play a significant role in the country's development. 'This Non-Resident and Overseas Banking Department will enable Global IME Bank to provide comprehensive banking services tailored to the needs of Nepali citizens living abroad. It will help connect their aspirations, investments, and families back home,' he said. Chief Executive Officer Surendra Raj Regmi said the initiative reflects the bank's commitment to serving the Nepali diaspora beyond remittance services.
