Two arrested with 52,300 Tramadol tablets in Parsa

KATHMANDU, MARCH 17 Police in Parsa have arrested two individuals in possession of a large quantity of banned Tramadol tablets during a vehicle check in Birgunj. According to the District Police Office Parsa, the arrests were made on Saturday at around 12:15 pm at Gandak Chowk in Birgunj Metropolitan City–14. A police team from the Gandak Police Post stopped a Tata Sumo (Na 1 Ja 2765) heading from Birgunj Bus Park to Kathmandu during routine vehicle checks. During inspection, police recovered 52,300 tablets of Tramadol Hydrochloride Capsules IP 50 mg, a banned drug, hidden inside a zebra-pattern bag and a sack covered with a yellow tarpaulin on the vehicle's roof. Police arrested Ram Ashish Raut Ahir, 42, of Parwanipur Rural Municipality–1 in Bara, and Subas Saraf, 30, of Bahudarmai Municipality–2 in Parsa, in connection with the case. The suspects have been taken into custody along with the seized drugs, and police have obtained a seven-day remand from the Parsa District Court to carry out further investigation under narcotics-related charges. Police said further investigation into the case is ongoing.
