Update: Air Dynasty helicopter crash in Khotang; Pilot identified, injured airlifted to Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, MARCH 18 An Air Dynasty Heli Services helicopter that crash-landed in Belabeshi, Kepilasgadhi Rural Municipality–2 of Khotang on Wednesday was piloted by Captain Sabin Thapa (34), the company said in its latest update. According to Balkrishna Pandit Spokesperson for Air Dynasty, Captain Thapa is a veteran pilot with seven years of experience and over 1,105 flying hours. The helicopter (9N-AFQ) had departed from Kathmandu and encountered the incident at around 11:51 am while attempting to land, reportedly hitting a hillside and overturning. The company confirmed that one passenger, 74-year-old Kati Bahadur Rai, sustained minor injuries to his leg and eye in the crash. He has been airlifted to HAMS Hospital in Kathmandu for treatment. All other passengers and the pilot are reported to be safe. Company spokesperson Pandit said that medical personnel and support teams have been mobilized to assist the injured passenger and his family, and requested media to respect their privacy. The company added that it is working with concerned authorities to determine the cause of the incident, while further investigation is underway.
