Light rain likely in hills as partly cloudy weather prevails elsewhere

KATHMANDU, MARCH 22 The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast partly to generally cloudy conditions across the country today, with chances of light rain and thunderstorms in some regions. According to the 24-hour outlook issued Sunday morning, hilly and mountainous areas are expected to remain generally cloudy, while the Terai will see partly cloudy skies. There is a possibility of light rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at a few places in the hills and mountains, and at one or two locations in the Terai of Koshi and Lumbini provinces. For tonight, the mountainous region is likely to remain generally cloudy, while the rest of the hilly and Terai areas will be partly cloudy. Light rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning is possible at one or two places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces. Meteorologists said the current weather pattern is influenced by a combination of westerly winds and local wind systems. In the Kathmandu Valley, light rain with thunderstorms is likely during the day, with temperatures ranging between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius and a 20 percent chance of rainfall. The weather is expected to turn partly cloudy at night, with temperatures dropping to between 7 and 9 degrees Celsius.
