Gold price crashes Rs 12,500 per tola in a single day

KATHMANDU, MARCH 22 Gold price in the domestic market have taken a sharp tumble, falling Rs 12,500 per tola on Sunday alone, the steepest single-day decline in recent months and the latest in a series of consecutive drops that have pulled prices well below the Rs 300,000 mark. Fine gold is now trading at Rs 282,000 per tola, according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association, down from Rs 294,500 per tola on Friday. That Friday rate had itself represented a decline of Rs 7,800 per tola from Thursday's price of Rs 302,300 per tola. In total, gold has shed Rs 20,300 per tola over just two trading days. Silver has followed the same downward trajectory. The metal declined by Rs 355 per tola on Sunday, dropping from Rs 4,895 per tola on Friday to Rs 4,540 per tola today, according to the Federation.
