KATHMANDU, MARCH 22 The Butwal–Narayangadh road section, blocked since Friday due to adverse conditions, has yet to resume full operation, disrupting transport services along the East-West Highway. According to Superintendent of Police Yubaraj Khadka of the District Police Office, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East), the Daunne stretch at Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality–2 has become muddy and slippery following rainfall, severely affecting traffic movement. Vehicles travelling from east to west have been unable to operate due to the slippery uphill section, while those moving from west to east are operating only partially, police said. The disruption has left passengers stranded for three days, with long-distance passenger and freight vehicles unable to reach their destinations since the rainfall began on Friday. The Narayangadh–Butwal Road Project said efforts are underway to repair and improve the affected section. However, restrictions on large freight vehicles, from 7:00 pm to 5:00 am, remain in place for safety reasons. (With inputs from RSS)
