Senior-most lawmaker Arjun Narsingh KC administers oath as per constitutional provisions

KATHMANDU, MARCH 26 Newly elected members of the House of Representatives (HoR) were sworn in today at a ceremony held at the Federal Parliament Secretariat in Singha Durbar. Senior-most member Arjun Narsingh KC administered the oath of office and secrecy to fellow lawmakers at the newly constructed multipurpose hall. KC himself had taken the oath before President Ramchandra Paudel on Wednesday. The oath-taking ceremony has been conducted in accordance with constitutional provisions, including Articles 99 and 91 (5) of the Constitution of Nepal, and Section 75 of the House of Representatives Member Election Act, 2017.

In the House of Representatives elections held on March 5, the Rastriya Swatantra Party emerged as the largest party with 182 seats. The Nepali Congress secured 38 seats, followed by CPN-UML with 25 seats and the Nepali Communist Party with 17 seats. The Shram Sanskriti Party won seven seats, while the Rastriya Prajatantra Party secured five seats. The oath-taking marks the formal commencement of parliamentary duties for the newly elected lawmakers.
