KATHMANDU, MARCH 27 Outgoing Prime Minister Sushila Karki returned to her private residence in Dhapasi, Kathmandu, from the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar on Friday. She moved back to her home after newly appointed Prime Minister Balendra Shah took the oath of office and secrecy and assumed office the same day. Karki shared the update on her social media account, stating, 'It marks the official end of a significant chapter of public responsibility. I had to take on the country's leadership during a difficult and challenging time. We succeeded in conducting the elections through collective effort, coordination, and patience. The people's unwavering trust and participation in democracy have guided the nation in the right direction.' Expressing satisfaction and relief in handing over leadership to a newly elected government, the outgoing Prime Minister said she believes the energetic leadership of a new generation will lead the country towards greater prosperity and a more stable future. She also expressed gratitude to Nepali citizens, colleagues, and concerned authorities for their support, cooperation, and trust throughout her tenure. Karki had assumed responsibility for conducting the elections on the night of September 12, following the developments in the aftermath of the Gen Z movement of September 8–9.
