Global IME Bank partners with Tilganga for free cataract surgeries

MoU targets vulnerable groups across all seven provinces

KATHMANDU, MARCH 27 Global IME Bank Limited has partnered with Tilganga Eye Institute to provide free cataract surgeries to economically disadvantaged and vulnerable populations. The agreement was signed at the bank's corporate office in Kamaladi in the presence of Chairman Chandra Prasad Dhakal and Tilganga founder Sanduk Ruit. Under the MoU, the institute, with financial support from the bank, will conduct screenings and surgeries at seven locations across all provinces. The initiative will also include free eye check-ups and spectacles for students from low-income backgrounds. Bank CEO Surendra Raj Regmi and Tilganga CEO Dr Rita Gurung formally signed the agreement. Speaking at the event, Dhakal said the bank has consistently invested in social responsibility programmes across all 77 districts. Dr Ruit emphasised the importance of transparency and sustainability in the collaboration. Global IME Bank, which operates over 1,000 service centres nationwide, said the partnership would be expanded further in the future, while Tilganga reaffirmed its commitment to accessible and quality eye care services.
