KATHMANDU, MARCH 28 Home Minister Sudan Gurung has said that no one is above the law, clarifying that the arrest of former prime minister KP Sharma Oli and former home minister Ramesh Lekhak is not an act of political retaliation but the beginning of a legal process. In a statement posted on social media, Gurung said the two were taken into custody for investigation based on the findings of a commission formed to probe the Gen Z movement of September 23. 'This is not revenge against anyone; it is only the start of justice,' he stated, adding that the government believes the country will now move in a new direction. The commission, led by former judge Gauri Bahadur Karki, had recommended legal action against Oli, Lekhak and others under criminal law. Acting on the recommendation, police detained the two leaders earlier on Friday morning. The decision to implement the commission's report was made by the first Cabinet meeting of the government led by Balen Shah.
