Former Minister Lekhak detained in Maharajgunj

KATHMANDU, MARCH 28 Former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak was detained by the government earlier today in connection with the September 8–9 Gen Z movement. Lekhak, who was serving as Home Minister during the protests, had resigned from his position on September 9. He was apprehended earlier today from his Katunje-based residence in Bhaktapur. According to police, the detention is related to the implementation of recommendations made by a commission formed to investigate the Gen Z movement, which was led by former Justice Gauri Bahadur Karki. Lekhak was apprehended from his residence in Katunje, Bhaktapur. According to the family source, he is presently being held at Nepal Police Battalion-2 in Maharajgunj. His home had been burned down on September 9, after which he had been living in a rented house in Katunje, Suryabinayak Municipality-5.
