KATHMANDU, MARCH 28 The Society of Consulting Architectural and Engineering Firms (SCAEF Nepal) has launched a four-day specialized training on GIS and Remote Sensing with the objective of enhancing professional capacity within Nepal's consulting, construction sector and clients from concerned government departments and ministries (3Cs). The training is being hosted by Gandaki Province SCAEF in collaboration with the Construction Business Development Implementation Committee (CBDIC), the Federation of Contractors' Association of Nepal (FCAN) under coordination of Professional Development and Capacity Building Sub-Committee (PDCB) of SCAEF Nepal. The program is being conducted from March 27 to 30, 2026 (13–16 Chaitra 2082) at Hotel Pauwa, Pokhara. According to the organizers, the training has attracted notable participation of engineers, project managers, surveyors, technical officers, project planners, contract managers from consulting, construction and concerned government departments and ministries. SCAEF Nepal, an organization dedicated to promoting and strengthening Nepal's consulting industry through technological advancement and managerial improvement, stated that the program is part of its ongoing capacity development initiatives. As infrastructure projects grow in scale and complexity, the integration of GIS and Remote Sensing has become vital for effective project planning, enabling precise spatial analysis, real-time monitoring, and informed decision-making to ensure timely completion, cost efficiency, and high-quality delivery. During the four-day session, participants are receiving hands-on instruction on GIS & Remote sensing and will cover spatial analysis techniques, theoretical and practical aspects of remote sensing, and applications of GIS in planning and infrastructure development. Organizers expect the training to enhance participants' technical expertise and analytical capabilities. By the end of the training, participants are expected to be proficient in applying georeferencing techniques, raster analysis, and vector analysis within GIS and Remote Sensing platforms to strengthen spatial accuracy, mapping, and thematic visualization. SCAEF Nepal in conjunction with the Construction Business Development Implementation Committee (CBDIC), and the Federation of Contractors' Association of Nepal (FCAN), have jointly encouraged clients from concerned government departments and ministries, consultants, and construction (3Cs) professionals across the country to actively participate in such programs to enhance their professional competencies.
