KATHMANDU, MARCH 31 Minister for Home Affairs Sudhan Gurung, underscoring the importance of incorporating disaster rescue and preparedness programmes into school curricula, has instructed the concerned authorities to make necessary arrangements in this regard. During a discussion with Armed Police Force Inspector General Raju Aryal in Kathmandu today, Minister Gurung highlighted the need to coordinate with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to implement the proposed programme. Emphasising the importance of equipping students with basic disaster preparedness training, Gurung said the primary objective of the initiative is to develop essential life skills from an early age, particularly in disaster management. He added that the programme aims to impart knowledge on ensuring safety during disasters, provide basic rescue skills, and raise awareness on disaster response and preparedness measures. Through this initiative, students are expected to gain hands-on knowledge that will enable them to respond effectively during disasters. According to the Minister's secretariat, the initiative will be implemented through coordinated efforts among relevant agencies to ensure its effective and efficient execution.
