Global IME Bank to host second AI/ML hackathon in May

KATHMANDU, APRIL 1 Global IME Bank Limited has announced the second edition of its AI/ML hackathon, aiming to promote innovation and encourage the use of technology in the banking sector. According to the bank, the Global IME AI/ML Hackathon 2026 (Second Edition) will be held from May 29 to 31. Applications have been opened for students, startups, developers, engineers, data scientists, researchers and other technology professionals. Interested participants can apply through the bank's official website by May 4. The bank said it is organising the second edition following strong participation in last year's event, which was the first AI/ML hackathon in Nepal's banking sector. The hackathon is expected to support the development of innovative digital banking services and help address emerging challenges in the sector. Participants will present solutions based on themes such as autonomous credit and lending systems, AI-driven fraud detection, multilingual voice banking, and network intrusion detection. Top teams will receive cash prizes and opportunities to collaborate with the bank. The bank expressed confidence that the initiative will contribute to making financial services more technology-friendly and effective, while encouraging innovation in digital banking.
