EC to begin voter registration and list updates from April 5

KATHMANDU, APRIL 1 The Election Commission is set to commence the registration and updating of the voters' list from April 5. The process had previously been postponed on November 22, 2025, following the announcement of the election date for the House of Representatives, 2082. Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, Joint Secretary and spokesperson for the Election Commission, stated that provisions have been made allowing Nepali citizens holding a national identity card to register their names in the voters' list online. Similarly, Nepali citizens who have not yet obtained a national identity card are required to visit their respective provincial or district election offices to submit biometric details after completing the Commission's online form, in order to be included in the voters' list. According to a press release issued by the Election Commission today, services such as correcting errors in the voters' list, updating records related to death and migration, and removing duplicate registrations can also be carried out online.
