KATHMANDU, APRIL 3 Dol Prasad Aryal, Vice Chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, has emerged as the sole candidate for Speaker of the House of Representatives after filing his nomination within the stipulated deadline on Friday. The Federal Parliament Secretariat had set the nomination window from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Singha Durbar, during which no other candidate registered. Aryal's candidacy was proposed by party chair Rabi Lamichhane and seconded by lawmakers Sobita Gautam, Dr Swarnim Wagle and Sunil Lamsal. With no rival candidates, Aryal is set to be elected unopposed. The formal proposal for his election is scheduled to be tabled at the House of Representatives meeting on April 5.
