KATHMANDU, APRIL 5 Dol Prasad Aryal has been elected as the 10th Speaker of Nepal's House of Representatives (HoR), the lower house of the Federal Parliament. Aryal was elected unopposed during Sunday's HoR meeting after a proposal was tabled by Rabi Lamichhane, president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). The proposal was supported by lawmakers Sobita Gautam, Swarnim Wagle and Sunil Lamsal. Following statements from the proposer and supporters, the senior-most HoR member Arjun Narsingh KC, who was chairing the meeting, formally declared Aryal elected unopposed. KC also congratulated Aryal and wished him a successful tenure. Aryal previously served as vice-chairman of the RSP. The House of Representatives is scheduled to meet next at 1:00 pm on Monday, April 6.
