Chinese national arrested in Kathmandu for illegal cryptocurrency transactions

KATHMANDU, APRIL 5 Nepal Police have arrested a Chinese national on charges of involvement in illegal cryptocurrency transactions and online fraud. The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Zhu Yi Feng, was apprehended from Thamel, Kathmandu. According to police, he allegedly contacted Nepali citizens through social media, lured them with various incentives, and used their bank accounts to carry out fraudulent activities. The defrauded money was then converted into cryptocurrency for transactions. Preliminary investigation has revealed that transactions amounting to approximately Rs 177.97 million were conducted. Police have obtained a five-day remand from the Kathmandu District Court and further investigation is underway.
