Rain, thunderstorms likely in hilly, Himalayan regions

KATHMANDU, APRIL 7 The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has forecast generally cloudy conditions in the hilly and Himalayan regions on Tuesday, with partly cloudy weather in the rest of the country. Moderate rainfall or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at some places in the hilly and Himalayan regions, and at one or two locations in the Terai of Koshi Province during the day. By night, cloudy conditions are expected in the hilly and Himalayan regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as the Himalayan areas of Bagmati and Koshi provinces. Light to moderate rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning is likely at a few places in Karnali, Sudurpaschim and Gandaki, and at isolated places in Bagmati and Koshi. According to the department, the current weather system is influenced by a westerly low-pressure system along with local winds. In the Kathmandu Valley, moderate rain with thundershowers is expected during the day, with temperatures ranging between 26 and 28 degrees Celsius and a 40 percent chance of rainfall. At night, light rain with thunderstorms is likely, with temperatures between 12 and 14 degrees Celsius and a 30 percent chance of precipitation.
