Govt recalls ambassadors from six countries

KATHMANDU, APRIL 7 The government has recalled ambassadors from six countries following a Cabinet decision. Ambassadors serving in India, Australia, Sri Lanka, Denmark, South Korea and South Africa have been instructed to return within one month. Those recalled include Shankar Prasad Sharma (India), Chitralekha Yadav (Australia), Sumnima Tuladhar (Denmark), Purna Bahadur Nepali (Sri Lanka), Shivamaya Tumbahamphe (South Korea) and Kapilman Shrestha (South Africa). According to the government, letters were issued on Monday directing the envoys to return within a month, following the Cabinet meeting held on Sunday. Earlier, the interim government under former Prime Minister Sushila Karki recalled 11 of the 17 ambassadors appointed on political quota by the previous administration.
