KATHMANDU, APRIL 8 Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has announced a significant change to its trading schedule, moving to a Monday to Friday trading week effective from April 6. The change follows a Cabinet decision taken on April 5, which established a new government office schedule of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm with Saturday and Sunday as weekly public holidays. NEPSE's board of directors, in a meeting held on the same date, resolved to align the stock exchange's trading operations with the new schedule accordingly. The shift marks a notable departure from NEPSE's longstanding practice of operating Sunday through Thursday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm - a schedule rooted in Nepal's previous working week, which treated Sunday as a working day and Saturday as the weekly holiday. The new arrangement brings Nepal's capital market calendar in line with global financial markets, which predominantly operate on a Monday-to-Friday schedule, and significantly extends daily trading hours. All stakeholders have been urged to take note of the revised schedule.
