KATHMANDU, APRIL 10 The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has raised the prices of petroleum products, effective from Thursday midnight, citing fluctuations in the international crude oil market. According to the decision by the NOC board, petrol prices have been increased by Rs 17 per litre, while diesel and kerosene have gone up by Rs 25 per litre each. The price of cooking LPG has been hiked by Rs 100 per cylinder, and domestic aviation fuel by Rs 6 per litre. Following the revision, petrol now costs Rs 219 per litre in the Kathmandu Valley, while diesel and kerosene are priced at Rs 207 per litre. A cooking LPG cylinder now costs Rs 2,010, and domestic aviation fuel has been fixed at Rs 257 per litre. The government stated that the price adjustment was necessary despite a 50 percent exemption on customs duty and infrastructure development tax, as losses persisted. NOC estimates it will still incur a fortnightly loss of around Rs 7.81 billion even after the latest hike.
