NEPSE declines 13 points; turnover at Rs 8.99 billion

KATHMANDU, APRIL 10 The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index reversed its recent gains on Friday, falling by 13.46 points or 0.47 percent to close at 2,837.77 points. A total of 21.08 million shares of 335 companies were traded in 97,480 transactions, with a daily turnover of Rs 8.99 billion. Sector-wise, only hydropower and manufacturing and processing groups posted gains of 0.08 percent and 1.59 percent, respectively, while all other sectors ended in the red. Banking declined by 0.74 percent, development banks by 0.67 percent, finance by 0.60 percent, hotels and tourism by 0.44 percent, investment by 0.12 percent, life insurance by 0.71 percent, microfinance by 0.73 percent, mutual funds by 0.49 percent, non-life insurance by 0.48 percent, and others by 1.39 percent. In individual stock performance, 56 scrips advanced, 209 declined, while three remained unchanged as shares of Bhujung Hydropower Limited, Super Khudi Hydropower Limited, Hotel Forest Inn Limited, and Palpa Cement Industries Limited hit the positive circuit limit. By the end of the trading day, total market capitalization stood at Rs 4.824 trillion.
