101 traffic violators fined in Kathmandu Valley

KATHMANDU, APRIL 12 The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police has taken action against 101 drivers for violating traffic rules during a surprise checking campaign conducted today. The campaign, carried out at multiple locations across the Valley, targeted a range of traffic violations, including driving under the influence of alcohol. According to Spokesperson of the Valley Traffic Police Office, SP Naresh Raj Subedi, five drivers were found driving under the influence of alcohol, two were penalised for running red lights, and 94 others were booked for failing to maintain lane discipline and committing other traffic-related offences. The Traffic Police has intensified such surprise inspections in recent days to ensure stricter enforcement of traffic regulations. Meanwhile, the Traffic Police Office has urged passengers to promptly report any suspicion of drivers operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Such incidents can be reported to the nearest police office, the Traffic Control Room hotline at 103, or the police emergency number 100.
