KATHMANDU, APRIL 16 The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has forecast generally cloudy skies over the hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi Province today, with similar conditions extending to the Himalayan belts of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. The rest of the country's hilly and Himalayan areas will remain partly cloudy, while the Terai plains will see mainly fair weather. DHM warned that light rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is possible at a few locations in the hills and high mountains of Koshi Province, and at one or two places in the Himalayan zones of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. The department has also cautioned that hot day conditions are likely across the Terai regions of Madhesh, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in some other low-lying areas. Overnight, cloudy skies will persist over the hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces, with the possibility of isolated light rain or snowfall in the high mountains of both provinces. Other hilly and Himalayan areas will turn partly cloudy, while the Terai will remain largely clear. DHM attributed current weather patterns to the partial influence of a feeble westerly system combined with local winds. In Kathmandu Valley, partly cloudy skies are expected through the day with maximum temperatures ranging between 27 and 29 degrees Celsius. Nights will be mainly fair, with minimum temperatures forecast between 13 and 15 degrees Celsius.
