Rain, thunderstorms forecast in hills; heat in Madhes

KATHMANDU, APRIL 19 The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has forecast generally cloudy conditions in the hilly and Himalayan regions, including Koshi Province, and partly cloudy weather in the Terai for Sunday. According to the DHM, light rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning are likely at a few places in the hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini Provinces. One or two places in the Himalayan regions of Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces may also experience similar weather. The department has also warned of hot days in Madhesh Province, as well as in the Terai areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim Provinces. Tonight's forecast Generally cloudy conditions are expected in the Himalayan regions, while the hills will remain partly cloudy. The Terai is likely to experience mainly fair weather. Light rain or snowfall is possible at one or two places in the hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi and Gandaki Provinces, as well as in the Himalayan region of Bagmati Province. Weather in Kathmandu Valley The DHM said the Kathmandu Valley will likely see light rain with thunderstorms, with a maximum temperature between 28 and 30 degrees Celsius and a 30 percent chance of precipitation. Tonight, the valley will be partly cloudy, with a minimum temperature between 17 and 19 degrees Celsius. The department stated that the country is currently under the partial influence of westerly winds and local winds.
