KATHMANDU, APRIL 19 Minister for Communications and Information Technology Bikram Timilsina has urged the public to verify information circulating on social media, stating that not all content shared online is accurate or authentic. Speaking at Chhahare Bazaar in Likhu Rural Municipality-6 on Sunday, the minister dismissed reports claiming that new mobile phones were distributed to ministers, calling them baseless and misleading. He said such rumours were intended to create distrust towards the government. 'It is essential to confirm whether information is official and true before dissemination,' he said, stressing the importance of credibility and accuracy in information sharing. The minister also said the government remains committed to not misusing public funds and encouraged citizens to report any irregularities. Referring to Balendra Shah's zero-tolerance policy on corruption, he said action would be taken against any misuse of authority. He acknowledged public concerns over slow development and bureaucratic delays, adding that the government aims to accelerate results while maintaining transparency. However, he noted that development is a gradual process and requires public cooperation. Minister Timilsina also said he is aware of local development needs in Nuwakot and pledged necessary initiatives to address them, stating that efforts are underway to complete projects within five years that previously took decades.
