Singer Pawan resonates at Paleti with melodious tunes

KATHMANDU, APRIL 26 A musical Paleti programme featuring renowned Darjeeling-based singer and composer Pawan Gole and musician Ramesh Gurung was held on Friday and Saturday evenings at Nepalaya's 'r' Sala in Kalikasthan, Kathmandu. In this edition of Paleti, singer Pawan Gole performed 16 songs, comprising both new and classic numbers. The programme featured compositions by various musicians, while eight of the songs were solo compositions by Ramesh Gurung. During the performance, Gole recalled his first appearance at Paleti 14 years ago. Similarly, Gurung noted his association with the programme dating back two decades. In 2006, he had accompanied veteran vocalist Dawa Gyalmo on the harmonium during a Paleti performance. The programme opened with a rendition of poet and lyricist Dinesh Adhikari's 'Mato Matra Desh Haina', It was composed by late Dibya Khaling, the piece conveyed the idea that cultural identity extends beyond geographical boundaries. As in previous editions, the event was hosted by Paleti coordinator and singer-composer Abhas.
