Thunderstorms likely in hills as Tarai swelters

KATHMANDU, APRIL 27 The weather is expected to remain generally cloudy across Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces today, with partly cloudy conditions in the hilly and Himalayan regions of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at a few places in the hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Isolated rainfall is also likely in parts of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim. Hot conditions are expected to persist in the Tarai districts of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces. Tonight, the weather will remain generally cloudy in the Himalayan region and partly cloudy in the hilly and Tarai regions. Light rain or snowfall is likely at a few places in Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as in the Himalayan region of Karnali Province. Meteorological analysis indicates that the country is currently under the partial influence of westerly and local winds, along with a low-pressure system in the lower atmosphere in the eastern region. Kathmandu is likely to witness light rain with thunderstorms, with temperatures ranging between 29–31°C during the day and 15–17°C at night. Pokhara may see light to moderate rainfall, while cities such as Nepalgunj, Dhangadi and Dipayal are expected to experience hot daytime conditions, with temperatures reaching up to 41°C. Similarly, eastern hill districts including Okhaldhunga and Taplejung are likely to receive moderate rainfall with thunderstorms.
