Nepal–EU Tech Forum highlights digital investment prospects

KATHMANDU, APRIL 28 The Embassy of Nepal in Brussels organised the Nepal–EU Tech Forum 2026 in collaboration with Genese Solution, bringing together policymakers, investors, tech firms and diaspora representatives to explore digital innovation and investment opportunities. Held at the European Institute for Asian Studies, the forum focused on strengthening Nepal–Europe collaboration in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector, including cross-border investment and diaspora engagement. Addressing the inaugural session, Ambassador Sewa Lamsal highlighted Nepal's readiness for digital transformation, citing growing IT exports and a skilled workforce as key advantages. She said Nepal is well-positioned to meet Europe's rising demand for digital services.
Speakers from the European Commission and Nepal government outlined policy priorities, investment reforms and efforts to facilitate foreign direct investment in the tech sector. Panel discussions centred on startup ecosystems, sustainable digital growth, talent mobility and diaspora-driven innovation. Participants stressed the need to translate Nepal's tech potential into execution, improve ease of doing business, and build strong talent pipelines linking Nepali firms with European markets. The forum also underscored opportunities in green AI infrastructure and university partnerships. More than 70 participants, including tech professionals, investors and students, attended the event.
