KATHMANDU, MAY 10 The Meteorological Forecasting Division has forecast generally cloudy weather in the hilly and Himalayan regions of the country with chances of rain and thunderstorms in several provinces. According to the Division, Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at a few places today. Isolated rainfall is also possible in other regions, while the Terai is expected to remain partly cloudy. Tonight, Koshi Province and the hilly and mountainous regions will remain generally cloudy, with chances of light rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at a few places in Koshi and Sudurpashchim provinces, and at isolated locations elsewhere. The current weather system is influenced by a western low-pressure system, local winds, and a low-pressure area in the lower atmosphere over eastern Nepal. Among major cities, Kathmandu is likely to record light rain with thunderstorms with temperatures ranging between 26–28°C during the day. Pokhara, Biratnagar and Dhankuta are expected to witness moderate rainfall, while most Terai districts will remain partly cloudy with limited chances of precipitation.
