NEPSE gains 38 points; all sectors post growth

KATHMANDU, MAY 11 The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rose by 38.19 points, or 1.39 percent, on Monday to close at 2,783.85 points. Alongside the benchmark index, the sensitive index, which measures the performance of Class 'A' stocks, increased by 1.30 percent, while the float index, which tracks actively traded shares, rose by 1.43 percent. All sectoral indices ended in positive territory, with the 'Others' sector recording the highest gain of 2.11 percent. It was followed by the Finance sector (1.81 percent), Hydropower (1.79 percent), Microfinance (1.70 percent) and Non-life Insurance (1.60 percent). In terms of individual stock performance, 247 scrips advanced, while 18 declined and four remained unchanged. The market recorded a total daily turnover of Rs 4.61 billion. A total of 10,439,432 shares were traded through 68,444 transactions involving 332 scrips. By the end of the trading day, total market capitalisation stood at Rs 4.74 trillion, while float market capitalisation reached Rs 1.58 trillion.
