World Bank pledges support for education sector

KATHMANDU, MAY 14 The World Bank has expressed readiness to support Nepal's education sector, including infrastructure development and expansion of technology-based learning. The commitment was conveyed by Country Director David Sislen during a meeting with Minister for Education, Science and Technology Sasmit Pokharel at the ministry on Thursday. Discussions focused on improving education quality, expanding school infrastructure and promoting technology-friendly systems. The World Bank showed interest in further investment and cooperation in school and education infrastructure. The ministry said both sides also discussed strengthening partnerships to support long-term reforms and widen access to quality education. Minister Pokhrel outlined the government's priorities, including infrastructure development, strengthening foundational learning and expanding digital and technology-based education.
